HISTORY OF IBM RING 250
On Saturday, June 21, 1980, a small group of magicians met in the Forum Room at the Square, 3500 South College Avenue in Fort Collins, Colorado, to discuss the possibility of organizing a local magic club. Several of the magicians present were members of the I.B.M. International Brotherhood of Magicians.
This worldwide organization was founded in 1922.
Membership is attained by making application, with the sponsorship (optional) of two certified members, to:
The International Brotherhood of Magicians
13 Point West Blvd.
St. Charles, MO 63301-4431
Phone: 636 724-2400
FAX: 636 724-8566
E-mail:
Website: http://www.magician.org
I.B.M. membership applications are available from the Ring secretary or treasurer.
The I.B.M. charters Rings around the world, anywhere a sustained interest in magic can be demonstrated. A minimum number of ten members is required to qualify for the establishment of a Ring. In a manner similar to the Chinese Linking Rings, a magical illusion wherein the magician links and unlinks a group of solid metal rings, a Ring is a group of magicians which are linked and united with other Rings around the world with the bond of a universal interest in magic.
Currently there are 42 certified members meeting on the third Thursday of the month (except January, July, and December) at the Congregation Har Shalom - ANNEX, 725 West Drake Road, Fort Collins, Colorado, 80526-5522 at 6:30 PM. Active membership is available to those persons, 18 years of age and older, who are able to demonstrate a genuine interest in performing magic as a form of entertainment. Youth membership is available to those persons 10 to 18 years of age.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
ACTIVE membership in the Fort Collins Presto-Digitators is open to anyone (18 years of age or older, YOUTH membership 7 and under 18 years of age) with a sincere interest in magic. Membership is generally delayed until some are comfortable that the person seeking membership can perform some magic, hopefully discouraging those "solely motivated by curiosity."
Presto-Digitators membership dues are $20 a year (make check payable to I.B.M. Ring 250, Presto-Digitators), but we invite anyone to attend our meetings, and receive a complimentary newsletter (usually three months), until they are comfortable with the group. YOUTH membership dues are $10.00 a year. Significant others, assistants, or accompanying non-magicians (for parents), may also become an ASSOCIATE member for $4.00 a year.
The Presto-Digitators also encourages membership in the I.B.M. (International Brotherhood of Magicians) as a duly recognized Ring of that organization. Only I.B.M. members may hold office, or vote, but non-I.B.M. members are welcome, and encouraged to participate in other ways!
The current I.B.M. classes of membership fees and dues are:
- ACTIVE Members: First Year - $70 and $55 thereafter annually (with digital only access to The Linking Ring)
- ACTIVE Members: First Year - $85 and $70 thereafter annually (with the print edition of The Linking Ring and unlimited digital access)
